The Oak Point design team was initially brought on board to design a small bump-out addition to expand conference room space for a one story �70�s era (with all that implies) office building nestled into a hill on a wooded site on Cape Cod. After several meetings it became apparent that the mission of the owner required additional office and classroom space and a lobby that would reorganize the existing facility.
The design team collaborated with the owner�s team to create what was ultimately dubbed �The Solar Scheme�. This design solution allows the addition to swing away from the existing building facing its long axis to the south, capturing the easy to control southern light and opening up an entry courtyard to the north-east, which directs occupants into the new lobby space.
